A History Walk with Curtis Watt: stories & performance poetry, focusing on the colourful, and sometimes violent, events & personalities that have made Liverpool a world famous city. Monday 26th March: 4-6pm. Writing Advice Desk, The Poetry Section, Liverpool Central Library. With poet Glyn Wright. (Winner of the Aldeburgh First Collection Prize). Free.

TUESDAY 27th March

TUESDAY 27th March @ 1pm – Colette Bryce. The Nellist Room, Modern Languages Building, Liverpool University, Chatham Street, Liverpool. Colette’s poem Indian Rope Trick won the National Poetry Competition, and her collection was short-listed for the T S Eliot Prize.

TUESDAY 27th March @ 6.30pm. Contrasting Voices: Gladys Mary Coles & Aileen la Tourette read their poems in counterpoint to each other in a stimulating performance event. Plus Open Page: New poets from the JM University Centre for Writing showcase their work. Dean Walters Building, St James Road, Liverpool. Free.

SATURDAY 31st March: 11am-1pm Children’s Poetry Workshop. Children’s Section, Liverpool Central Library. Play word games & have a go at writing a poem with Windows’poets & performers, Nan Trader & Trevor Gerard.

SATURDAY 31st March @ 8m DGPS LIVERPOOL POETRY SLAM, compered by Chloe Poems. One of the most gifted & accessible poets alive, Chloe has been described as “an extraordinary mixture of Shirley Temple & pornography.” Cash prizes of £100, £50, £25 & audience favourite award of £25. Panel of judges plus audience participation.
NOTE: Change of Venue. It is now taking place at The Piazza Cafe Bar.
This is located at the foot of the steps of the Catholic Cathedral at the end of Hope Street, close to The Everyman.
