Phil Bowen, David Bateman, compered by Clare Kirwan. Three fantastic poets perform – a night not to be missed!
PHIL BOWEN was born in Liverpool 1949, where he taught Drama until the
late seventies. He has published four collections of poetry including
‘Variety’s Hammer’, work from which was selected for the Forward Anthology
of 1998. His last collection was ‘Starfly’ published by Stride in 2004. He
has also edited ‘Jewels & Binoculars’ – 50 poets celebrate Bob Dylan
and ‘Things We Said Today’ – poetry about the Beatles.
His acclaimed biography of the Mersey Poets, ‘A Gallery to Play to’ has
been updated and re-published by Liverpool University Press this year.
Last year he conceived and curated Adrian’s Wall an installation
commemorating Adrian Henri which was broadcast on Radio4.
He works throughout the country as a freelance writer, teacher and performer.

Originally from Kent, DAVID BATEMAN has lived in Liverpool since 1980.
Overcoming his once crippling stutter, he is popular with audiences for his witty
and sometimes surreal poetry. He was Liverpool Poetry Slam Champion 2007.
His poetry publications include Curse Of The Killer Hedge (Iron 1996) and
A Homage To Me (Driftwood 2003).
