Dead Good Poets – June 2009 Diary

Wednesday 3rd @ 8pm – DEAD GOOD POETS SOCIETY OPEN FLOOR. 24 spaces of five minutes for you to perform your own poetry. New poets always welcome as are new audience members! Old poets and audience also welcome! In fact, EVERYONE’s welcome. The 3rd Room, Everyman Bistro, Hope Street, Liverpool. Arrive early to book a performance slot. £2/£1 pay on the door.

Wedneday 3rd @ 7.30pm: Wirral Grand Slam. Three poetry groups on the Wirral are combining to promote the “Wirral Grand Slam” to be held at 8pm prompt (doors 7.30pm), 3rd June at Tullula’s Late Lounge, Marine Parade (above Wilkie’s Amusements), New Brighton, Wirral CH45 2JX.

Saturday 13th: 2-4pm – The DEAD GOOD POETS SOCIETY POETRY READING GROUP. The Hornby Room, Liverpool Central Library. This month we will be looking at YOUR favourite poems. Arrive a little early and I will photocopy your choices to share with the rest of the group. All welcome. Refreshments provided.

Wednesday 17th @ 7.30pm – DEAD GOOD POETS SOCIETY’S AWAY DAY. Okay, for the pedants out there (and you know who you are!) it’s more of an Away Evening. We will be abandoning The 3rd Room for The Bluecoat Arts Centre to support * * FOURPENNY CIRCUS * * * Four characters from a jaded circus tell the audience about their lives, loves and memories. Expect surprises as they juggle, charm and saw poems in half. Starring former Cheshire Poet Laureates: Jo Bell. Sunday 21st @ 8pm: Write Out Loud’s super-friendly Read Around. Poetry Open Mic open to all! The Howcroft Inn, Pool Street, Bolton. £1

Thursday 25th @ 7pm: Liverpool Poetry Café presents Salt Earthworks Native American Poets: Kimberly Blaeser & Gordon Henry Jr. Free event but advance booking is essential. The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool.

Monday 29th June @ 8pm: Zest! Poetry event featuring top poet Alicia Stubbersfield plus open mic. The evening is hosted by the Zest! Team: Gill McEvoy, Leih Steggall and Caroline Hawkridge. Alexanders jazztheatre bar, Rufus Court, Off Northgate St, Chester CH1 2JG. £3/£2 pay on the door
